Color Chain - Dice Game Rules
Lay out sequences while blocking opponents
Players: 2-4 players
Ages: 5+
Time: 10m
Setup: Randomly distribute the colored dice among players. Place a yellow die in the center showing “1.”
First Player: Roll for first. Clockwise.
Goal: Place all your non-yellow dice
Cycle:
- Roll your dice
- Place a superior* die adjacent to a die of the same color. Must place if can.
- SUPERIOR: Die is +1 higher than all adjacent die (even those of different colors)
- YELLOW: Yellow dice are wild (any color)
- OTHERS: If adjacent to same or wild color, fine if adjacent to others if superior to all
- 6s may be placed next to 6s of same color
- If cannot play, add one yellow die to your hand (rolled in future turns) if available.
- (e.g., first turn must place a “2” next to the yellow “1”; can place a “4” next to one of your placed “2” dice, but only if any other bordering dice are also showing “2”; a “6” may be placed next to any number of adjacent “6s” so long as one is the same color)
Finale:
- When a player places their last non-yellow die, finish the turn order
- Any players who have placed all their dice win
