Zanzibar - Dice Game Rules
Blurb: Zanzibar is a fast-paced and exciting dice game where players aim to score points by rolling specific combinations (also known as Zanzi).
Players: 2+
Ages: 8+
Time: 15-30 minutes
Setup: 3 dice and a scoresheet to each player
Turn order: Clockwise
Goal: The goal of the game is to accumulate the highest score by rolling specific combinations of the dice.
Cycle (4 rounds):
1. Roll: On their turn, a player rolls all three dice up to three times, setting aside any dice they want to keep between rolls.
2. Score: After rolling, the player scores points based on the combination of dice they have:
- Three of a kind: Score 5 times the value of the dice (e.g., three 4s score 20 points).
- Straight (1-2-3, 2-3-4, etc.): Scores 20 points.
- Zanzibar (1-1-1): Scores 100 points.
3. Record: The player records their score for that turn on the score sheet.
4. Pass: The turn passes to the next player.
Ending: The game ends when a player reaches or exceeds a predetermined score, typically 200 or 300 points. The player with the highest total score at the end of the game wins.
